Lent begins at the Ash Wednesday service (this Wednesday at 6pm), where we are reminded of our mortality and our need for a savior.  At this service we will receive the mark of the cross, made in ash*, on our forehead.  The ashes remind us that we were created from the dust and we will return to the dust (Genesis 3:19).  The cross reminds us of our hope for life beyond death.  Ash Wednesday is a powerful service and we encourage you all to attend.
